#20 50's American Diner Date.

On Sunday me and my amazing girlfriend saw an advertisement for the 50's American Diner in
Swadlincote which just so happens to be just down the road from where I live so we decided to get ready and check it out, we researched the menus and opening times before we went to avoid disappointment as the last time I went there was about 4 years ago.

We were both really excited to go there as it was a new experience, my girlfriend had the Frank Sinatra Bean Burger with a Chocolate Orange Malt and a RC Cherry Cola and I had a Rocky Marciano Burger which had melted Blue Cheese Sauce on top and for drinks I had a Turkish Delight Milkshake and a Blood Tonic Soda which was absolutely amazing.

We plan on going back there sometime as we really enjoyed the atmosphere and food.

Influences of the Internet TAG

I've been tagged by my beautiful girlfriend who is kaycia-is-contagious
The rules of the tag are:
  • You must state this tag was created by Megan at The Beauty Pier
  • You must tag at least one person to do this, however the more the merrier!
  • Let the person know you've tagged them in a comment on their blog.
  • Title this post "Influences of the Internet TAG"
  • Here we go!
------------------------------------

1. Did other blogs convince you to start up your own?
Yes and no in a way, I had my first blogger account back in 2008 but I had only posted twice on it but recently I decided to start up my own blog because my girlfriend was telling me on how good it is to blog and that it looked like something that I would enjoy to do in my free time.

2. Have you joined a site because someone else in blogsphere did?
Yes definitely, my girlfriend Kaycia got me into it.

3. Is there a tip/regime you've gotten from the internet that you now use?
often find tips on how to use certain skin products such as the Garnier Pure-Active range, I usually check out videos on
youtube to see how people use the products and to see the results so that I have more faith in the product.

                      4. If your favourite YouTube/Blogger personality likes a product, will that make you buy it?
No, not at all unless it were something that I would use on a daily basis and wasn't expensive.

5. What do you look for in a blog that makes you want to follow?

I look out for interesting posts which to me include things like mens fashion, art and just generally random topics such as great finds and how-to's, etc.

6. Have you ever been deceived by a product that you ordered online? (e.g you thought it would be pink but it was coral)

Quite recently I had bought a pair of 'skinny' jeans from fashion website which I won't name for obvious reasons, basically when they   arrived, I tried them on and to my surprise they were huge around the ankles and I mean they could've classed as bootcut jeans, I felt like           it was false advertising on their part and I had to send them back promptly to exchange them for a different brand.

7. Have promo pictures and press releases given you the impression that a product will be better than it is?

haven't really experienced this for myself so I can't really say much.

8. Is there a product you could give a 'cult' status for being so good that you discovered through the internet?
I can't think of an answer to this, sorry.

9. Is there a product you have tried and hated, but others have loved?
I have used Aussie's Colour Mate Conditioner and it always makes my hair look greasy after use, from reviews online it seems that people think it works rather well and smells nice, I do agree that it smells nice though because of its peachy flavour.

10. Is there a Blogger/YouTuber that influences your fashion style? If so, who?
This may be strange but Sam Pepper in a way as since he has moved to LA for a while he has been trying new styles from thrift stores that actually suit him a majority of the time.

11. Is there a Blogger/Youtuber that influences your attitude each day/lifestyle?
My girlfriend influences me to be more confident and nice to people, Sam Pepper influences me to try new fashions to see what suits me the most.

12. How much time do you spend on the internet daily?
A Lot of time, I use Youtube, Facebook, Tumblr, Blogger, Instagram, Flickr, 500px, Gmail and Pinkbike on a daily basis.

#18 Skincare Products.

Recently I have been having more breakouts of acne and it is really affecting my self confidence, I have been trying a few new products for the past few weeks and I feel like there is some improvement to my skin.

The product I have been using for the longest is Clinique's all about eyes which was given to me by my girlfriend although for a pot of this size you would be expected to pay around £8, the skin underneath my eyes has been awful for some years now and with use of this product I am starting to see a little change to the area underneath my eyes.

Clinique All About Eyes - 7ml

When attending the Meadowhall Student Lock-In with my girlfriend this year, outside of The Body Shop we were both given a 5ml  pot to put any liquid product available inside of it, I decided to go for the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser which was available for £7.50 for a 30ml pot so I got around £1's worth of cream for free, I am yet to see any clear results from this product yet as I have only just started using it but it smells lovely.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser - 5ml
The final product I have been using is the Garnier Pure Active Spot-On Roll-On which has had great results on my skin in very little time, I apply the product around twice a day and to be honest it's one of the best acne reducing products I have ever used, I would recommend that anyone with acne should use this.

Garnier Pure Active Spot-On Roll-On - 15ml

#17 Second Driving Lesson.

Right, so yesterday I had my second driving lesson and I had learnt so much during it, during my one and a half hour lesson I managed to stall twice on two separate junctions which my instructor said would most likely happen during the day so I didn't feel too bad about that.

Even though it was my second lesson I managed to drive a total of 12 miles all together learning how to take roundabouts, junctions and turnings on the way, I managed to do smoother gear changes throughout the lesson which were a problem on my first lesson, when I drove back to my house my instructor gave me pointers on how to improve my approach to junctions and signaling correctly, I got given handouts explaining on what to do when going around roundabouts and pulling off from junctions, etc and I booked my next 10 lessons courtesy of my father which is great of him.

All in all my instructor says that I am already ahead of schedule as I managed to do more technical maneuvers, etc.

#16 Lunch Date.

So every now and again me and my girlfriend go to restaurants and when we go it's always a big deal to us, as were both students we have to be really careful with money and budgeting in order to have enough money to go and see each other.

On Saturday we decided to go to TGI Friday's in Meadowhall near Sheffield as we've never been there before previously as a couple, we bought each others mains, my girlfriend bought the Pudding and I bought the Drinks as the price came to around £20 each all together, we decided to share the costs as our parents had given us money towards the meal.

I want to be able to get a job soon because I would love to be able to take my girlfriend out on more dates without having to worry about money, someday this will happen!

Right back to the date, my girlfriend got the Jack Daniel’s Salmon dish which included cheesy mash topped with spring onions, seasoned vegetables and Jack Daniel’s glaze in a separate pot which looked very appetising, I decided to get a Black & Blue Angus beef burger as I wanted to try something a little different to what I would normally get from places that have such a large menu.

For drinks my girlfriend decided to get a San Francisco mocktail which is under 'flings' on the drinks section of the main menu and for myself I decided to get a Chocolate Oreo milkshake which to be quite honest was very filling but really delicious, I also tried my girlfriends mocktail and it had such a fruity, sweet taste with a little hint of sour in the aftertaste and I wish I would've got the same now because it were really nice.

Please note that my girlfriend had taken the photographs above and I will post a link to her blog below.

#14 Driving Lesson.

Yesterday I had my first driving lesson with an instructor and I were nervous for days before the actual lesson but as soon as I got behind the wheel I had a lot more confidence, the instructor told me all the basics from starting the car, about the blind spot and mirrors, gear changes and stopping at junctions which I was worrying about the most, in the last 30 minutes of my one and a half hour lesson the instructor let me drive around the local country lanes and the only problem I had was with pulling off from a junction as there was a bridge blocking my view to the right and cars were coming down the road at high speeds so I had to keep edging out into the main road which was scary, I managed to get the car into 5th gear with cars in front and behind of me without annoying the people behind too much.

Hopefully I do a little better in my next lesson, not as I were expected to be the best of drivers after not being behind the wheel for nearly two years.

#13 London Part II.

On my second day in London me and Kaycia met up at outside Victoria station where we then went on the tube to go to Oxford Circus to look in a few shops including Urban Outfitters, after spending some time there we then went back on the tube to Camden for the rest of the day where we looked in lot's of amazing shops and went around the market for a few hours, as I had to be at the coach park in Victoria for 17:45 we set off from Camden at about 16:40 so that I had plenty of spare time, when we were back in Victoria we went to Pret A Manger to have dinner, Kaycia had  Mushroom Soup and I had a Super Fruits Salad which tasted amazing, at about half five me and Kaycia then departed from each other at the tube station as she were still staying at her sisters house for a few days.

All in all the day was a lot less busy than the previous day, we should be going back there in the Summer for a night or two so I will be sure to take more photographs.

#12 The perfect job opportunity.

Yesterday I got offered an interview for a marketing job in Nottingham from an amazing company called Jam Industries, the bad thing is that I thought the job was based in Derby and not being able to drive yet it wouldn't be a good idea to consider a job in Nottingham, the emails they sent me included sentences like "In a while crocodile" and "Hurrah! Having had a gander we would love to find out more about you".

There is a section on their website called Jam Clan Cinema Club and a journal for all their events, all this makes me want to work for them even more, they even offer a great salary.

I will be learning how to drive soon which will make future job opportunities like this possible.

#11 London Part I.

On the 19th of February I went to Central London for the first time in my life, I decided to go because my girlfriend was already half way through spending the week at her sisters house in Brixton and I wanted the opportunity to visit the city together as a couple, when I arrived by Coach at Victoria Coach Station I was amazed at all the architecture and the sheer size of the city, as I did my research a few days previously I had a good idea of where I was going to locate the underground station and the hotel I were spending the night at.

I met up with Kaycia at Victoria Underground and from there she showed me how to purchase a 1-day travelcard for getting around zone 1 & 2 with, after I purchased the ticket we made our way to the Hanover Hotel in Victoria so that I could check-in ready for the evening, I managed to snap the room up on laterooms for £34 including a continental breakfast in the morning which was a bargain really.

After I had checked in and lightened my backpack a little we decided to start walking up Buckingham Palace Road and on our way we went to Pret A Manger to buy sandwiches for a picnic and then we visited the royal collection shop where I bought my mum a bone china cup for her birthday and Kaycia bought her parents a selection of biscuits in a tin.

The first location on our mapped out itinerary was Buckingham Palace where we sat on the steps in front of The Victoria Memorial to take photographs, close by to the Palace is St. James Park where we decided to have our picnic, after our picnic we started walking up The Mall which is the long red tarmaced road in front of Buckingham Palace towards the site of the Horse Guards Parade, passing the HMRC building and then we walked towards the Big Ben, from the bridge next to Big Ben I got my first ever view of the River Thames and The London Eye.

From Westminster we got on the tube to Covent Garden where we went to Starbucks, Pretty Green (Mod shop) and the market where we saw performers and a shop dedicated to Tea where we got to try lot's of free samples which was awesome, from Covent Garden we then decided to Leicester Square which was nearby where we went to a really nice Italian Restaurant called L'ulivo where we got 2 Pizzas and 2 drinks for £27, I remember the price as we payed £17 of it in change, from the restaurant we then went to the M&M's World where we looked around, the air smelt like chocolate which must be unfortunate for the employees but great for the customers.

Lastly for day one we went to Piccadilly Circus where we sat down at the fountain to cuddle with each other and take photographs, we got complimented as a couple twice whilst there, one of them was from a student that said "You're a beautiful couple" which was nice, from the fountains we then made our way to the underground station where we went on the Victoria Line which took me to Victoria underground and Kaycia back to Brixton underground on the same line which was convenient.

Thanks for reading, I just wanted to share the story of my first day in London to you bloggers, I will write the story of my second day in London soon.

Ciao.
